If you have a Long Term Condition such as:  Respiratory (COPD or Asthma), Vascular (Hypertension, Atrial Fibrillation, Coronary Heart Disease, Cardiovascular disease, Heart Failure, Peripheral Arterial Disease, Stroke) Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, then you will need to have your condition monitored regularly.

We will contact you by either text, letter or phone and invite you to book a review appointment.  

Appointments can be booked via the link in your text message, on-line (using the NHS App or Patient Access) or by speaking to the Reception Team who will be happy to help.

We have recently introduced a new system for recalling our patients with long-term conditions during their month of birth. This means that we will invite you annually during the month you were born and hopefully it will mean that you may need to attend for less appointments. This may vary from patient to patient depending on when you last attended for a review but we feel it will be helpful as it may mean you do not have to attend for as many appointments. If you have received an invite for your annual review during your birth month but, have already had your annual review in the last 3 months, you do not need to attend on this occasion and you will be contacted when your review is next due.

Vaccination and Immunisation

Vaccines and immunisations can help protect the body against infections. They 'prime' the immune system to recognise micro-organisms such as bacteria and viruses. The UK's Childhood Immunisation Programme includes measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, influenza (flu) vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine and human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV). There are also many 'travel vaccines' for diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever and japanese encephalitis.

Cervical Smears

Cervical Smear invites and recalls are managed by the National Screening Programme. Cervical Smears are carried out by trained female members of the clinical team. 

Whether it’s your first time or you have been before, going for cervical screening may make you anxious. Please do not hesitate to contact us so that we can support you and answer any questions you may have.  

Maternity Care

During pregnancy it is important that expectant mothers are seen regularly by the Midwife to ensure both mother and baby are progressing well. Full care is provided by the Midwives.

Anticoagulation (INR)

This Service uses specialist computer software to calculate the INR from a finger prick blood sample. This is a “one stop” service  enabling patients to leave with an up-to-date dosing letter.

Child Health and Development

Developmental checks are carried out by the health visitors either in the patient's home or at the Community Clinic in the YWCA on Highgate, Kendal.  Parents or guardians will be contacted by the health visitor at the due times.

Minor Surgery

If you require minor surgery your doctor will advise you to make an appointment for the procedure to be carried out.
